Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara

Hey guys - hope everyone is well. Another eventful week...not in the most positive sense - I got a 2nd degree burn on my lips from eating something extremely hot on Thurdays. I've just been slathering it with Savlon in bid for it to heal quicker. It was extremely painful for the first 2 days and it's gotten a lot better now - a big lesson learnt - be patient with your food! THEN I got sick on Friday night with a temperature and had really bad abdomen pain over the weekend. I pretty much slept for most of the weekend and skipped the onsen trip I was suppose to go on :( I'm still a little sick but just resting at home now.

On a better note, I recently purchased the Heroine Make Long and Curl mascara. Honestly, as soon I applied the first it was love at first sight!

This mascara has been repackaged
I have horrible oily lids, so more than anything,  finding an non-smudging mascara is top priority and usually, I'm quite confident that Japanese mascaras are pretty good being smudge-proof.

first application - no mascara base

It defines and darken the lashes brilliantly, lashes did not droop. The best part - lengthening! The formula feels light on the lashes - not a wet formula like traditional mascaras yet not as dry as fiber mascaras like the Luview Full Gleam Long lash mascara.

Admittedly I thought the immediate results were better than .. Fiberwig mascara. The result is perfect for everyday but just slightly more dramatic than the fiberwig. Unfortunately...  it actually smudged soon after the application. A total disappointment! Despite loving the results, it gave me panda-looking eyes pretty quickly :(

To try and make this mascara work and to avoid looking like a panda before before work I decided to add a top coat of a more smudge-proof mascara - Majorca Majolica Lash Expander Plus mascara I found in my makeup bag.. Guess what? It actually worked pretty well! There were some smudges but noticeably less than using the mascara alone.

Then experimenting further with this idea I decided to try it with the fiberwig mascara (this is fool-proof smudge-proof mascara!!) a little disappointing since it didn't work as well as the majolica one. I do wonder why... In my experience, Heroine Make Mascaras have always a pretty good smudge-proof mascara - I'm wondering if they have changed their formula now.

My final point is that if you like the mascara enough you should try to make it work. I have a Clarins mascara fix in my drawers  but I haven't used it in such a long time - I suspect it's already expired (lasts for 24months). I will continue to make this mascara work even though it does smudge!

Have you tried to make a product work because you like the initial results?? Do share!

I love my tarte highlighting powders but I must apply a cream highlighter first for it to give me the results that I desire... (also adds to the staying power) that is one product that I make work!

they come in two shades, one with a champagne undertone & one with a pink undertone, I love them both but to me definitely not a stand alone product.

great post!
