Lancome Ageless Minerale Foundation Vs SUQQU Powder Fresh Foundation

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well and having a lovely weekend! Sorry I've been MIA the last few days...I am slowly getting back to the groove of teaching again. I will also be juggling a lot of things that will surely keep me busy! Also my mother in law was hospitalized on Tuesday for a sudden eye surgery... she's be in hospital for another week (or less hopefully) and obviously, we've had to try and visit her as much as possible.

Thought I'd kill 2 birds with one stone: Lancome Ageless Mineral Foundation vs SUQQU Powder Fresh Foundation

This Lancome Ageless Minerale foundation has been mentioned in a new number of posts already, I used it throughout summer (since I got back from the UK) and I really, really like it! This foundation was originally introduced and raved by the lovely Fuz. It looked amazing on her and I really wanted to give it a try. I looked around a number of counters and I couldn't find it. I thought it was only available in US so I stopped looking for it, until by chance, I asked the Lancome counter in Selfridges about it (My mum was purchasing something from them) and it turned out the mineral foundation is exclusive to Selfridges!!! How lucky could I get? LOL. I guess it was meant to be XD

Claims:

-100% mineral pigments cover imperfections and visibly erases pores and lines without settling into creases for a flawless, ageless look.
-The Lancôme innovation: skin-renewing White Sapphire Complex* helps fight visible signs of aging. Skin looks brighter, revived and feels softer for hours.
- Experience the velvety brush for a blissful, effortless, controlled application.
- 13 luxurious, long-wearing natural shades – free of talc, oil and fragrance

* Aloe, Vitamin E, Mica, Alumina, Bismuth Oxychloride

It seems to come in a number of colours and a range of intensity on the US Lancome website, but I think there was a more of a limited colour range at the Lancome counter in Selfridges. The SA matched me up with Natural Ivory 30 - Intensity I.  This is the weakest intensity formula available, and assuming it offers somewhat a weaker coverage compared to the other formulae.

Pro:
  • Clean and easy to use sift jar. It's NEVER been messy for me to use.
  • matches well with my skin tone - natural-looking with added glow with semi-matte finish
  • Build on coverage - sheer to high. I like to switch between sheer and medium depending on my skin.
  • offers flawless (yet natural) coverage: covers even the most obvious redness, blemishes, smooth pores
  • a very smooth, fine milled powder. No chalkiness whatsoever.
  • contains Aloe, Vitamin E to soothe the skin
  • contains SPF20 and White Sapphire Complex
  • Applies well without a makeup base (eg. DiorSnow UV base) but with just sunblock like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock in SPF50
  • Long lasting (even in very hot weather)
  • no breakouts!
  • feels lightweight on the face (even with suncreen + makeup base)

Cons:

  • There is little oil control - I have to blotted my face (particularly my nose) at least twice. This is might be due to the heat.. but yes you can look quite oily within 3-4 hours. Blotting should do the trick.
  • Contains Bismuth Oxychloride, which can cause breakout for  people
  • Can look cakey if you pack on too much
  • Difficult access for some people (like myself? haha)
  • Doesn't seem to do much for my eye-bags lol. You will need a concealer for that!
  • Limited colour range outside US
  • Expensive for some at £32
Looks with this foundation:
Although with better skin I am still prone to redness - nose in particular and it's nicely hidden here.

I have a blemish on cheek there can you see? the foundation makes it appear much less obvious, kinda looks like a mole there lol!

Despite the lack of oil control I am very pleased with the glow it gives me and the kind of coverage it offers. I'm amazed that I don't even need to use concealer with this foundation and still looking natural too.

This SUQQU Powder foundation sample was given to me by my mum. Luckily the sample's colour was a pretty good match to my skin tone overall.  I wore this in the UK a lot and I liked it because I was breaking out a lot. I was tempted to buy it but didn't in the end, here's why:

haha yeah I touched pan. Shade 15.

Claims:

This UV protecting powder foundation is formulated to be highly resistant to perspiration and skin oils, leaving you with a flawless complexion all day long.

Pros:
  • Gives a medium - high coverage
  • Decent oil control
  • High UV protection with 27 SPF  PA++
  • Gives a flawless polished look with matte finish
  • Compact and easy to travel with
Cons:
  • Very expensive - about £50 for refill (£38) and case/sponge (£12)
  • Limited colour range - 6 shades only
  • Can look cakey quite easily
  • Felt like wearing a mask, looked unnatural
  • Too strong yellow tones
  • Need makeup base
  • Difficult to purchase
Looks with this foundation:

I'm breaking out between my brows there!

Same, forehead -.-;;

Results: I was breaking out a lot when I wore this foundation and it covered a lot of my flaws, but it felt and looked unnatural. However, I was particularly impressed how high coverage it could give even by using just a little.  For that reason, you could risk looking cakey rather easily. I didn't feel the powder foundation adhered to the skin that well with no makeup base. Ultimately, the price was it's downfall - I am SO glad it was only a sample because I would have definitely not splurge £50 on it after these observations! One more minor point, isn't always annoying when a brand gives a little info about their products?!

Overall, I am very pleased I chose the Lancome Ageless Minerale foundation over the SUQQU foundation. The results and the value of the Lancome foundation wins by a mile! If you are looking for a very polished, flawless look then I would recommend the SUQQU foundation, and for a natural glowy look, the Lancome Ageless Mineral Foundation.

I really love the Lancome on you! I have a lot of big red bumps or old dark acne scars that are hard to cover up with Mineral or light foundation but your skin just looks ultra flawless!

Silkybow said...

The lancome looks super good on you!
Ok I think from just these pictures 80% of the people are jealous of your skin!!! hehe

F said...

Wow, that *does* look super natural! I feel like foundation should be as natural looking as possible. The whole point is to make it seem like you have naturally nice skin, right? You already have beautiful skin, but it doesn't hurt to have a little something as back up on those days when the weather/hormones/whatever might throw you off your game. It looks like you've found it, good for you! :) I'm still looking. I like the MISSHA for what it offers but it's still not QUITE as natural looking as I'd like (haha, picky, picky). Love your comparison, too, super helpful. Thanks!

You look lovely with the Lancome foundation. I'm so jealous that you can wear the mineral powder foundation. I can't do powders any more.

Hi Nic, awesome review! After hearing Fuz raved about it i've been wanting to get my hands on it as well but have been indecisive between the lancome and the laura mercier mineral but after reading this I think I want to go for lancome first! Too bad it doesn't have great oil control, but it looks amazing on you!

wuguimei said...

You have such clear skin! I've been looking for a mineral foundation that I can just throw on. Liquid takes too long!

Thank you for your in-depth review! <3

Thanks so much for the comparisons! The foundations look amazing on your skin. I bought the lancome mineral one a few months ago. Your post reminded me how muched I liked it back then, and I've now unearthed it from my makeup box. Thanks!!

The Lancome powder really works for you, I still haven't touched mineral make up yet...I'm just too used to what I use currently.

Can't believe SUQQU is that expensive..I've noticed it in Selfridges but never paid too much attention to it. I guess it's a lot cheaper in Japan right...?

For me there is no difference between those pictures! Your skin looks absolutely gorgeous everywhere!

I want to try this foundation. My big sis is so into mineral makeup now so am getting very curious too. I think I have the same problem as you getting this product — from what you wrote, it seems this is not available in Japan? Boo. Will try to look for this in Singapore when I go home this Dec.

Oh wow. Your blogpost has made me *convinced* that I need to get the Lancome foundation the next time I step into Selfridges! I'm not too good with loose powders on a whole though since I do tend to make a mess xD But since you said that you've been okay, I guess I'll give it a try!

I just left you a message on skype - thanks so much!! I received the package today! You really shouldn't have! I was so surprised when I saw an extra blush and the samples (and another kawaii HK blotting paper)!!! Ahhhh~~ You are too kind T______T

Looks like afterall the package I was waiting for wasn't this one. I was so relieved! I don't know what Home Delivery Network is playing at! But thank you again x a million!!! =)
